Krista Kim

Student Counselor, ADHD-CE

In addition to being Director of Operations, I am also a student counselor working under the supervision of Crista Studer, MS, LPC, RDN, CEDS-C, NCC at Peak Serenity Counseling. I take a trauma-informed, integrative approach to therapy, recognizing that past experiences, especially those that may have been overwhelming or harmful, can shape how we think, feel, and respond in the present. I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches to tailor interventions to your unique needs, whether that includes building practical coping skills, exploring patterns, or strengthening self-awareness. At the core of this approach is creating a space where you feel safe, respected, and in control of your own pace.

I support a diverse range of clients, including those navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, life transitions, and co-occurring disorders. My background as an ADHD-certified educator allows me to offer targeted support for attention, executive functioning, and motivation challenges in a way that is both practical and compassionate. My goal is to provide a comfortable, collaborative space where, together, we can work toward clarity, resilience, and meaningful change in a way that feels manageable and grounded.

My path into counseling has been shaped by a blend of science, education, and advocacy. I earned my bachelor’s degree in biology from George Mason University and am currently completing my master’s in counseling with a specialty in addiction studies from Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School. Before transitioning into counseling, I spent a decade in secondary education teaching biology and genetics, where I developed a deep appreciation for how the human body works and how the brain learns, adapts, and grows. In addition, my experience as a court-appointed special advocate (CASA) for foster children has deepened my commitment to meeting people where they are, honoring their lived experiences, and advocating for their needs with care and respect.

As a student counselor, I provide self-pay counseling services to clients on a reduced-rate sliding scale both virtually within the Commonwealth of Virginia and in-person at my office in Warrenton, VA.

My self-care includes being immersed in nature, gardening, reading, playing video games, and spending time with my menagerie.
